On 1st and 2nd December 2021, all project partners met in Invitalia premises in Bagnoli (Naples, IT) to start the discussion on the project’s activities and structure the work for the coming months.
The first day started with the presentations from each partner in order to present the planned activities to all the members of the consortium. In particular, Invitalia’s presentation allowed the project partners to be updated on the planning of the decontamination of the whole area, both at land and at sea.
After a well-deserved Neapolitan team lunch at Pizzeria Vitagliano, the partners came back to the meeting room to follow the presentation from Yael Meroz, Project Adviser from NEEMO that will follow the consortium throughout project’s implementation. Her presentation focused on project management and financial reporting rules of the LIFE Programme.
The team then proceeded to a visit of the contaminated site, in particular to the coastline and analysed the surroundings of the selected intervention areas. The first group visit to Bagnoli’s coastline was the perfect occasion for the group picture that you can see below in our gallery!
The second day was dedicated to group discussion in order to set the work timeline and discuss critical details of the project actions such as methodologies for lab-scale and mesocosm-scale testing, planning of sediment sampling, contaminants concentrations present in the selected areas and timing for the obtention of first results in order to integrate them in the definition of the full decontamination plan managed by Invitalia.
After two days full of insights project partners returned to their respective offices and countries (BE, DE, FI) to start working on the implementation of LIFE SEDREMED.
